Archive for the “Website Talk” Category

This website features interactive games, videos, and posts by and for Lower Elementary students in science class. You can also take a look at some of the topics that we have covered in the past year.

The most recent activity will always show up at the top of the home page. You can click on different topics to see different parts of the site.

We will be updating this page with new material whenever we want to share new games or information with you. Please help your children use this site by sitting with them as they play or watch. This is a great chance to chat about what they’re learning in science!

This site also gets MANY visitors from all over the world. Welcome!

We said goodbye yesterday for the 2008-9 school year. Thanks to everyone who’s used this site and contributed to it!

We’ll remain up and running through the summer – because learning never stops! – and continue right into the 2009-10 school year.

Churchill Science Visitors Map

Churchill Science has been active since June 2008. Since then, we’ve gotten hundreds of visitors from around the world. Here is a map showing some of the places where our visitors are from.

Just over the past three days, our site has been visited from all over the globe! Just from our own country, we’ve had visitors drop in from 16 states – New York (obviously), New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts, Florida, Ohio, Indiana, Idaho, California, North Carolina, Minnesota, Texas, Wisconsin, Michigan, Virginia and Georgia.

We’d also like to welcome our visitors from abroad. In the last three days, we received hits from Italy, Australia, Brazil, England, Qatar, Israel, Chile, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Netherlands, Germany, and South Africa! All of the continents are represented except one – Antarctica.

Short of Lisa going back to Antarctica just to log on to Churchill Science, it doesn’t seem likely that we’ll get a visitor to this site from there. But wouldn’t that be great?

If you’d like to leave a comment telling us who you are and where you’re from, we’d love to know more about our visitors! Thanks for dropping by!

98 points!

Ever since we played this game in class, kids have been trying to beat the highest score. Some of you have posted saying you got “99999999999999999999999999999″… OK, well, this is Lisa’s top score. 98 points! If you were able to beat it (for real) post here and tell us how!

To answer Owen’s comment: I know of one other game a little bit like this one. But it’s not about ecosystems. It’s about planets! We’ll play it when we study about space.

Here’s a question for you all: One of these living things does not need the other two to survive. Which one is it?
